How we started

Our project started from a subject we had to analyze individually : "Improve the prevention of pollution caused by human activities". To visualize well the subject we had to do mindmaps. It helped us understand what the main human causes of pollution are and how they are studied and explained to people. We also discovered a bunch of solutions already implemented in real life to tackle pollution. This represents the starting point of our project. Here are the links of our mindmaps for you to really understand from where our project started :

By sharing our works together we had an idea...

Definition of our project

Our idea was to create a renting-clothes app called ECOLOOK. The service offered to the client is the connexion with a network of thousands of people ready to share their clothes when they have no need for them. The user chooses what clothes he wants to rent and for what period of time, he receives it in exchange of a payment, then he returns it to the original owner. To really see if our app was pertinent and useful we needed to precise some details around our project : the context, our target, the interface, the potential competitors, etc. You need to pay attention to these details to understand all the functionalities of our app offers.

Let us precise you some details :

Our target

Wireframes

Thanks to Figma, we have realized some wireframes in order to help us visualize our app.

As you can see on the pictures above, these wireframes display the most essentials functionalities of the app like the main menu, the research tool, the results, and the chat with other users. Also, with the last frame we thought about what the app would look like from the person who owns the item's point of view. Therefore, this is a first glance of the final design of the app which helped us to build our mockups. For our target, we thought that it would be relevant to have a simple and modern design with clear text zones.

Mockups & Tests

Once we had completed the wireframes, we have further developed them by adding pictures, colors, symbols, buttons and interactions. These are the mockups which were tested by the targeted customers.

1.
The newsfeed is what the user views first when he clicks on the app. The newsfeed is personalized according to the last rentings and the researches made by the user.

2.
The "search" part allows the user to fill the main characteristics of the clothes searched like the type of clothes, the size, the brand, the renting period and the maximum price.

3.
The user can see the information about the clothes selected such as the description written by the clothes'owner or the comments left by the other users. From this page you can also chat with the clothes'owner.

4.
This is the last page on which you can confirm your order and select your delivery address and your payment options.

As you can see on the picture above, there are several paths for the person tested, depending on what they choose to click on first. We had a lot of positive feedbacks on the design. For example, we were told that the two main colors that we chose (white and yellow) gave a clear identity to our app. We were also told that our app was easy to understand and to navigate. We paid attention to some interesting things about what was left to improve. For example, one complained that you could not put an item in a shopping basket in order to buy two clothes at a time. Some buttons were also unclear (with too much text) and some pages had to much information.

After the two first test we improved our mockups and according to the last tests we managed quite well to correct our drawbacks.

If you want to look at the tests more precisely in order to see what types of questions we asked and what were the answers, here is the link : tests
